Experience History and a Taste of the Past. Here you will discover the story of the Acadians and the visionary priest Father Belcourt who established the Farmers Bank of Rustico (1864-1894), the smallest bank charted in North America. Tour the 1772 Doucet House, the oldest house on the Island, take part in demonstrations, learn about the early Acadians and their food traditions, and tour the heritage gardens and apple orchard. Join us for our evening “Experiential Acadian Meals” in the Doucet House. Enjoy fricot, Rustico meat pie, rapure, etc. Refer to our website for events, workshops, demonstrations, and food experiences.
