The Farmers’ Bank of Rustico, a National Historic Site, officially operated from 1864 to 1894. Credited with being “the precursor of the Credit Union movement in North America”, it houses a permanent exhibition, focusing on its establishment and the work of its founder Father Georges-Antoine Belcourt. The Doucet House, an early Acadian log house circa 1772, offers a look at the daily lives of an Acadian family. Special events take place on certain days during the following festivals: Celebrate Canada in Rustico (June 24 & July 1), Acadian Days in Rustico (July 4-28), and Acadian Harvest in Rustico (Sept 4-28).
